Use this page when a low-pH result appears between visits. Preserve the repeat test, alkalinity, source water, recent acid feed, equipment state, and required response in the handoff.
Diagnose before changing the water
What may be behind the result or symptom?
Start with the last known-good condition and ask what changed. More than one factor may be present, and the same symptom can have different causes.

What should you check first?
- Repeat pH and total alkalinity with an approved test before treatment.
- Review acid-feed equipment, controller status, flow interlocks, manual additions, and source water.
- Inspect surfaces and metal equipment for actual evidence instead of treating damage as proven by one reading.
- Follow the local response, label, circulation, retest, documentation, and reopening requirements.
A reading is not a dosing order
Do not copy a universal dose from another vessel or product. Verify the test, actual water volume, product identity, operating target, protective equipment, and required response. Then follow the exact label and governing procedure.
What can the observation not prove?
A low pH reading cannot identify the cause, quantify damage, or establish a safe chemical amount on its own.
Keep the original result, repeat result, method, sample point, actual time, recent treatment, visible condition, equipment state, decision, and follow-up together. A record is most useful when it preserves uncertainty instead of quietly replacing it.
Where does Amano fit?
Amano can provide a scheduled pH record and post-test alert at qualifying commercial pools. It cannot correct the water or replace the required manual test and equipment inspection.

Can low pH damage pool equipment?
It can contribute to a corrosive condition, but evaluate the full water balance and inspect the equipment rather than assuming damage from one result.
Is a generic pH increaser dose safe?
No universal dose is safe for every pool. Verify the starting readings, actual volume, target, product, and governing instructions.
